A preliminary investigation into gross misconduct has been initiated following Gothenburg City's decision to boycott purchases from Israel, reports P4 Gothenburg.
The decision on the boycott was made by the municipality's procurement and purchasing committee, on the proposal of the governing S, V, and MP, in June this year. It was directed against "states that illegally occupy other states", and also included goods from, for example, Morocco and Russia.
However, the boycott was stopped by the Administrative Court in Gothenburg last week, with the motivation that individual municipalities are not allowed to make such decisions.
It is a decision that is clearly directed towards an area that the municipality is not responsible for. It is the state's task to make statements within the foreign policy area, said Maria Jolfors Detert, a judge at the Administrative Court, earlier to TT.
At the same time, another investigation into gross misconduct is ongoing in the municipality since politicians decided to allocate extra funds to municipal schools but not to independent schools, writes Göteborgs-Posten.
