Last Friday, Kombispel's CEO Jonas Lindholm was fired after Dagens Nyheter's exposure of aggressive sales methods for the Social Democratic Party's lottery. The entire board was simultaneously asked to resign.

However, Kombispel does not want to disclose how much money Lindholm will receive in severance pay.

According to Kidi Oller Westerberg, press officer at Kombispel, a clause about not disclosing the terms of a potential termination was already included in the employment contract.

"The clause is in the employment contract and not in any separate agreement regarding termination," Oller Westerberg writes in an email to TT.

The Social Democratic Party's economic policy spokesperson Mikael Damberg has no objections to the severance package being confidential.

He has an employment contract like everyone else, and then we follow it, says Damberg.

The most important thing is that we have acted. We have a cleaning job to do and clean up an operation that has not functioned as it should.

Refuses to disclose salary

Lindholm's assignment on the board was a full-time assignment, just like for newly appointed CEO Jonas Nygren.

Jonas Nygren also refuses to disclose how much he will earn in his new position.

It's a matter between me and my employer, he said to TT during an interview on Monday.

The outgoing board, including the CEO, received a total of 1.9 million kronor last year, according to the annual report. This is slightly less than in 2022 and 2021. It is not clear how much of this amount goes to the CEO.

Since the scandal within Kombispel broke out, the company has terminated its collaboration with the telemarketing company where former employees have testified about questionable lottery sales targeting the elderly and confused. Kombispel has also decided to completely stop telephone sales of lottery tickets via external actors.

Excluded from industry organization

In 2023, the lottery business generated 9.8 million kronor for the Social Democratic Party's party funds and 6.3 million for SSU. How the decision to stop telephone sales will affect lottery revenue cannot be answered by Kombispel at present.

On Wednesday, it was announced that Kombispel is being excluded from the industry organization Kontakta, which represents companies in customer service and telemarketing. Kombispel's actions "contradict membership terms and values," according to Kontakta.

We have high demands on our members, said chairman Tina Wahlroth to TT.
