Jazz and mourning when "Svennis" is laid to rest

Around 600 guests in the pews, a large screen outside the church, jazz – and the Värmland delicacy motti. Today, Sven-Göran Eriksson is being buried in Torsby.

The ceremony begins at 10 am in Fryksände church. According to "Svennis'" agent Bo Gustavsson, the church is expected to be fully seated, and for those who do not get a place in the pews, a large screen will be set up outside.

Sven-Göran Eriksson's wish was that the ceremony would be a folkloric and joyful moment. Afterwards, the procession will proceed from the church to a local heritage center.

The music will be performed by Torsby brass and draws inspiration from New Orleans – a further tribute to the late football coach.

When "Svennis" was at Sampdoria, the president there passed away and his funeral was something that made an impression on him. It was joyful, New Orleans jazz was played, and there were many people along the streets. He wanted something similar, said Bo Gustavsson earlier in September.

Beckham in attendance?

The day will conclude at the local heritage center with speeches and traditional food – nävgröt and pork.

A large number of guests on site are expected to be "ordinary people" from Värmland. At the same time, one or two well-known faces are likely to appear.

As early as Thursday, David Beckham, Roy Hodgson, and football journalist Henry Winter, among others, arrived in Värmland.

No concrete threat exists against the event, according to the police. At the same time, they are prepared for anything to happen and have called in extra resources from other parts of the county.

"Unique"

In parallel with the funeral, the Torsby market will start – which means even more people in the area.

It can be anything from 500-600 to a few thousand. It's unique that we're involved in a funeral in this way. But a funeral is also a public gathering, and we have experience in planning that, said Morgan Olsson, police operations manager in Torsby, to TT earlier in the week.

We know that famous people will come, and we naturally have to take that into account.

Central Torsby will be partially closed off.
