The current system for seeking asylum in an EU country is morally wrong, according to top candidate Alice Teodorescu Måwe.
Alice Teodorescu Måwe became the third top name presented by the Christian Democrats for the EU election just a few months after Sara Skyttedal was ousted.
She was thrown into the election campaign without having been a member of KD or having any political experience.
If she enters parliament, opinion polls have been wavering for KD, with defense, security, and migration being priority issues.
This is according to the party's manifesto, which also includes democracy, the rule of law, and equality.

But now, Russia is threatening peace. If there is no peace, all other issues will be secondary, according to Teodorescu Måwe. Therefore, she is worried that forces from both the extreme right and left will influence EU support for Ukraine.
Although it is not the EU parliament that makes decisions on aid packages for Ukraine, but rather the member states together in the council, the composition of the parliament can send signals to the outside world. And hardline right-wing parties, more Russia-friendly, seem to be advancing in the election.
EU countries have recently agreed on stricter asylum and migration rules. Now, KD wants to go even further with a "migration pact 2.0". Alice Teodorescu Måwe thinks the main problem with the current asylum system is that people need to take themselves to Europe to seek asylum.
She calls the current system "morally wrong". KD envisions asylum centers in countries outside the EU, without specifying which ones. Similar proposals have been raised by several EU countries recently.
