The UK's leader Keir Starmer and Germany's Olaf Scholz praise Joe Biden after his announcement that he will not stand for re-election. Even Swedish party leaders commend Biden.

Ukraine's president thanks Biden for unwavering support, but from Moscow, cautious tones are heard.

"I respect President Biden's decision and look forward to working with him for the remainder of his presidency", writes the British Prime Minister on X.

Germany's Chancellor Olaf Scholz joins in the praise. Biden has "achieved much: for his country, for Europe, for the world", he writes on X and adds:

"His decision not to stand for re-election deserves respect."

Zelenskyj: Helped against Putin

Even Swedish party leaders praise Joe Biden's presidency.

"I and the government have had a very good cooperation with President Joe Biden and his administration. We have great respect for his achievements and the decision he has now made", says Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (The Moderate Party) in a written comment to TT.

"I know Joe Biden as a strong and secure democratic leader, whose efforts have been crucial for Sweden and for Europe. Joe Biden is and has been a good president whose work I hope will continue", says S-leader Magdalena Andersson in a comment.

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyj expresses gratitude for Biden's "unwavering support for Ukraine's fight for freedom".

"He supported our country during the most dramatic moments in history, helped us prevent Putin from occupying our country, and has continued to support us throughout this terrible war", says Zelenskyj in a statement.

He adds that he hopes the future leadership of the USA will continue to prevent Russia from succeeding.

Russia: Much can happen

Poland's Prime Minister Donald Tusk agrees:

"You have made many difficult decisions, thanks to which Poland, America, and the world are safer and democracy is stronger", says Tusk in a statement.

Russia notes that they are following the development.

There are still four months left until the election. It's a long time, much can happen. We will be vigilant, follow what happens and take care of our own, says Kremlin's spokesperson Dmitrij Peskov to Russian media.
