Malmö had 4–1 in the back before the return of the Champions League qualifier against Faroese Klaksvik.

Then the Scanian team got a nightmare start, and conceded a goal already in the second minute. After that, MFF had to sweat – for eleven minutes. Then Hugo Bolin made it 1–1 in the match, and 2–5 overall, which meant new breathing room for Henrik Rydström's men.

From there, it was mostly a transport stretch. Anders Christiansen scored a penalty after almost an hour and made the lead even more secure, but Klaksvik then managed to score a consolation goal in the 65th minute.

The meeting at Djúpumýra Stadium in Klaksvik ended 3–2, after a winning goal in stoppage time for Klaksvik, but Malmö advances to the third round of the CL qualifier.

But tougher opponents may await. The draw has already been made, and Malmö will face the winners between Bosnian Borac Banja Luka and Greek Paok Thessaloniki.

Paok won the Greek league last season ahead of big teams like Olympiakos, Aek Aten, and Panathinakos. The team is one of the higher-ranked in the second round of the CL qualifier.

Who Malmö will face in the next round will be decided on Wednesday. The first meeting between the teams ended 3–2 to Paok.

The advancement means that Malmö has secured European play in the fall, in some form. The team has gone far enough in the Champions League qualifier to have guaranteed at least play in the Conference League.
