The police have apprehended a man at Arlanda airport, suspected of money laundering. The man was carrying gold worth several million.

It was customs officials who discovered the gold and alerted the police, who arrived at the scene.

She has no information on why customs and the police suspect the person of money laundering.

This seizure is part of a series that has been carried out at the airport this year.

Only in April, cash and gold worth over 4.5 million kronor and further debts of over 1.6 million kronor could be assessed by the Enforcement Authority.

Last year, a record amount of cash, gold, and luxury watches were seized on their way out of the country. The total value, 93.4 million kronor, corresponds to a 30% increase compared to 2022. A large part of the seizures are linked to criminal activity.
