A 65-year-old man who is on trial for assaulting and severely beating a lawyer in Norrköping in April may be sentenced to prison. This is clear after a forensic psychiatric examination showed that the man does not suffer or has not suffered from a serious mental disorder.

The lawyer was severely beaten in the stairwell to her home. As a result of the assault, she lost her sight in one eye.

According to the prosecutor, the man's motive can be linked to the woman's profession as a lawyer.

The suspect was involved in a division of estate dispute where the plaintiff was the estate distributor, said Pernilla Törsleff, deputy chief prosecutor, to SVT News East.

The trial in Norrköping District Court has been on hold pending the forensic psychiatric examination and will resume next week.
