The risk of forest and land fires is high in large parts of the country, according to the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute.

Previously, the risk was high in north-eastern Götaland, large parts of Svealand and south-eastern Norrland, but for Thursday, the area is being extended to also include virtually the entire Baltic coast and parts of southern Götaland and western Svealand. The forecast is valid until Thursday evening.

But we update daily, says Sofia Söderberg, meteorologist at the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute.

It will mainly be warm and sunny, and may also be a bit more windy tomorrow, which increases the risk in some areas.

In some places, the risk of fire is deemed "extremely high", and then one should be extra cautious when handling fire.

On Tuesday, this year's highest temperature so far was also recorded at the Forse measuring station in Västernorrland County.

There, we measured 31.0 degrees. The previous highest recorded temperature was in Osby on 1 June with 29.4 degrees, says Erik Höjgård-Olsen, meteorologist at the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute, and continues:

I can imagine that the record could be broken already today, we're heading towards 30 degrees in, among other places, northern Uppland and a bit further west.
