Mjällby advances to second place in the Allsvenskan table after defeating Malmö 2–1.

It was a top meeting in the heavy rain between two of Allsvenskan's most in-form teams. Table leaders Malmö, who started with seven matches without a loss, and third-placed Mjällby, who had won three straight matches and won against Malmö in three of their last five meetings.
Mjällby started the best. The Blekinge team had a really good first half and shook up a Malmö that was uncertain in the back and pale up front.

The Winning Period
Mjällby's best period in the match came after 30 minutes of play. In the 32nd minute, Mjällby also scored their first goal. Central defender Colin Rösler made a very fine pass over the entire field to Elliot Stroud, who received it elegantly and scored.
Just 12 seconds into the second half, Malmö got a big cold shower. Mjällby's Adam Ståhl then made a good preparatory work on the right flank and passed to Jacob Bergström, who made it 2–0. Then it was party time at the fully packed Strandvallen.
Critical MFF Coach
In the 62nd minute, Malmö substituted in Taha Ali, who then got a lot of speed on Skånelaget's attacking game. He was everywhere and created great chaos in Mjällby's defense.
When 11 minutes remained of regular playing time, Mjällby's defense did not keep up when the ball quickly moved between Malmö's attackers and came to Taha Ali, who scored via Mjällby back Tom Pettersson.
Malmö did not get closer to equalizing and after the match, coach Henrik Rydström was merciless towards himself and his team:
Apparently, this meant more to them (Mjällby) than it obviously did to us. We didn't show that it was important to us until there were 25 minutes left. I'm the most responsible and I'm ashamed. We have supporters here who have paid money and invested time, and we can't even bother to fight and run.
