Disney is getting a new CEO after Bob Iger – within two years. A successor will be in place "at the beginning of 2026", the company announces in connection with James Gorman being presented as the new chairman of the board.

Gorman, from the major bank Morgan Stanley, will succeed the current chairman Mark Parker in January 2025 and will have as his most important task to find a replacement for the legendary Iger, 73, who has led the entertainment empire in two rounds since 2005.

Iger was behind, among other things, the acquisitions of Marvel and Lucasfilm, the production company behind the Star Wars films, two superhero concepts that have dominated in Hollywood over the past decade. He resigned in 2020, but returned to the CEO position two years later after his successor Bob Chapek was fired.
