Next year, you'll have to pay a fee for your London trip

From and including April next year, one must as a Swede apply for a digital entry permit, so-called ETA, in order to travel to the United Kingdom, according to the British government's website.

The permit is required for all who enter the country, adults as well as children, and costs 10 pounds (equivalent to approximately 135 Swedish kronor). According to the authorities, the application, which is made via an app or online, is mostly approved within three days.

We Swedes love London, it's a major travel destination, so in that sense, this means a big change, says travel expert Lottie Knutson to TV4.

Already today, the UK requires ETA for citizens from several countries in the Middle East. By the turn of the year, the requirement will be extended to a large number of countries in the rest of the world, and in April, it will also be required for travelers from most European countries.

This means an added cost and more hassle for travelers. I think it will be received with some surprise since it has been communicated so little. It will probably require large information efforts, says Knutson to TV4.
