Dressage rider Louise Etzner Jakobsson didn't succeed in the individual class at the Paralympic Games in Paris. A few minor mistakes ruined the medal chances for the 64-year-old veteran, who on the horse Goldstrike finished seventh with 71,055 percent in class IV.
Instead, the Netherlands took double honors. Demi Haerkens on Daula won with 78,722, with Sanne Voets on Demantur closest behind with 76,528. The bronze went to Germany and Anna-Lean Niehues on Quimbaya (75,222).
However, the Swedish effort was enough to qualify as one of eight teams to ride the kür, the freestyle program, on Saturday.
It was in that discipline that Etzner Jakobsson and Goldstrike took silver in Tokyo three years ago.
Lotta Wallin on Questionmark will also ride the freestyle program, in class V. The eighth place in the individual class was just enough to qualify for further competition.
The gold medal went to Belgium's Michèle George on the horse Best of 8.
