The four-time Grand Slam winner Naomi Osaka is out of her first Wimbledon tournament in five years.
The 17th-ranked American Emma Navarro won clearly in straight sets and is on to the third round.
The former world number one Naomi Osaka has been back on the WTA tour since the beginning of the year after pregnancy and childbirth. This year's Wimbledon tournament was her first since 2019.
The 26-year-old Japanese player, who has previously had problems with mental health, faced the 17th-ranked American Emma Navarro in the second round of the women's singles tournament. The 23-year-old made short work of number 113-ranked Osaka and won in straight sets with the scores 6–4, 6–1.
Navarro's compatriot Coco Gauff is also through to the third round in Wimbledon.
World number two Gauff won against qualifier Anca Todoni, Romania, with 6–2, 6–1.
The victory came on the same court as Gauff played on when she, at just 15 years old, beat Venus Williams in her Wimbledon debut in 2019.
