Young man arrested after fatal shooting in Malmö

A man has died after a shooting on an open street in Malmö. A man in his 18s is arrested, suspected of murder, according to the police.

Shortly after 1 pm, the police received an alarm about loud bangs on Ramels väg in the Rosengård district of Malmö.

When the police arrived, they found a 25-year-old man on the ground with suspected gunshot wounds. The man died at the scene.

It happened outdoors on an open street outside a residential area. We are investigating it as a shooting with murder as the crime classification, says Katarina Rusin, press spokesperson for the police.

Just before 4 pm, the police announced that an 18-year-old had been arrested.

He is suspected of murder. At present, I cannot go into details. It is unclear if others are involved, says police press spokesperson Evelina Olsson.

A bullet hole in an apartment in a nearby apartment building has also been discovered. According to the police, several people were at home during the time, but no one was physically injured.

The police state that they believe the incident occurred in connection with the outdoor shooting.

An area has been cordoned off near Ramels väg. A dog patrol, a helicopter, and technicians are participating in the operation.
