The regions of Sörmland, Västernorrland, Blekinge, and Västerbotten are demanding 12.5 million kronor from the IT consulting firm Tietoevry due to how they were affected by the hacker attack earlier this year, reports P4 Sörmland.
This is a mistake that must not occur. Then these clauses regarding fines and, for our part, damages are activated, says Henrik Sollenborn, chief lawyer at Region Sörmland, to the radio channel.
A number of Swedish authorities and companies were affected by the IT attack on January 20, which has been linked to the Russia-connected hacker group Akira.
After the second quarter of this year, Tietoevry had set aside up to 10 million euros, equivalent to approximately 115 million kronor, in damages for the incident, according to Dagens industri. Earlier in October, the company issued a profit warning.
