The strong winds in southern Sweden have led to power outages, mainly in Kalmar and Kronoberg counties. A total of over 12,000 households are without power. The worst affected is Tingsryd municipality, where nearly 7,000 customers of Eon have been affected by power outages.
Now, the energy company has gone into "major disturbance organization". Switchovers in the grid will be made, as well as provisional repairs where trees have broken power lines.
There is a risk, given the current situation, that some customers may be without power during the evening and night, says Björn Persson at Eon's press office.
The Norwegian storm "Jakob" has moved into Sweden, bringing strong winds of up to 25 meters per second as a result. SMHI has issued a large number of yellow warnings in large parts of Götaland and Svealand, as well as parts of Gotland.
Trees on roads
The harsh weather has led to disruptions in train traffic, including on the routes Uddevalla-Strömstad, Nässjö-Vetlanda, and Linköping-Kalmar and Linköping-Västervik until 9 am on Saturday, where buses will replace trains, according to Trafikverket.
The gale has led to a number of fallen trees, primarily on the smaller road network.
It might be a good idea to think twice if you really need to drive on small roads today. You might be able to do it when it calms down later in the afternoon, or postpone it until tomorrow, says Felicia Danielsson, press communicator at Trafikverket.
On Friday, some Gotland ferries are also cancelled or delayed due to the harsh weather, according to Destination Gotland.
Strong winds in the mountains
Yellow warnings have also been issued for the mountain regions, valid until parts of Saturday. There, warnings are issued for strong or very strong winds in combination with snowfall.
In the lowlands of Härjedalen, Jämtland, and northern Dalarna, we also have wind warnings, locally up to storm gusts, says meteorologist Kristin Hallberg at SMHI.
Along almost the entire Swedish coast of the Baltic Sea, Öresund, Kattegatt, and Skagerrak, gale warnings have been issued. For the eastern parts, the warning is valid until Saturday.
