After the Secret Service's failure to protect Donald Trump, massive criticism has been directed at the police organization. From the right-wing in the USA, misogynistic comments are now being fired, including against the chief Kimberly Cheatle.

Donald Trump was injured due to the Secret Service's diversity program. This is claimed by right-wing profiles who blame the organization's failure on women.

"There should be no women within the Secret Service", writes the American right-wing extremist Matt Walsh on X. Without evidence, he also claims that for every woman working within the police organization, a better-qualified man has been rejected.

Several profiles are putting forward similar arguments, including Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who claims that the women from the Secret Service who were present at the campaign meeting to protect Trump were "too small". He compares it to having too small swimwear on the beach, in a post on X.

Responsible for security

After the assassination attempt at the Republican presidential candidate's campaign meeting, where the main person was shot and injured in the ear and one person died, many have wondered how it could happen.

The Secret Service is responsible for both sitting and former presidents and had the task of securing the area. Despite this, an armed 20-year-old managed to get up on a roof about 150 meters from the podium where Trump spoke to his supporters.

In a statement that NBC News has taken part in, the Secret Service writes that the criticism against the female employees lacks basis and that they are sticking to their diversity program.

"The responsibility lies with me"

Kimberly Cheatle has a stated promise that 30 percent of the agency's employees will be women by 2023. Today, the figure is 34 percent.

Despite the massive criticism, Cheatle has no plans to leave her post as chief.

The responsibility lies with me, she said in an interview with TV channel ABC News.

It's me who is the chief of the Secret Service, I must ensure that we conduct an investigation and that the personnel get the resources they need.
