Rögle leaves the bottom spot after the win against HV

Six straight losses were enough. Rögle took their second win of the season when they defeated HV71 with 4–3, and thus left the bottom spot in SHL. It's incredibly strong by the team, says match hero Felix Nilsson to TV4 Play.

The 24th of September was the last, and only, time Rögle took a three-pointer this season. Since then, it has been all red in the form chart, and before Saturday's match, the team was parked as a jumbo in the table.

But in the bottom meeting with HV71, the Ängelholm team looked like they were going for their second win of the season. But then the home team woke up.

Lightning Comeback

With barely three and a half minutes left to play, Isac Brännström scored the 3-2 reducer. A goal that became a disputed one. Rögle coach Roger Hansson wanted a tripping penalty on an HV player in the sequence before, when Jesper Pettersson fell.

It didn't happen, and instead, Hansson also saw HV71's new acquisition Sean Day score 3-3 with only 40 seconds left and take the match to overtime.

But there, Hansson and the rest of the Rögle players could breathe a sigh of relief. With a little over a minute left of the playing form, Felix Nilsson could score the decisive goal and pinpoint the win to Rögle.

Hehe, I usually miss those, so it was fun that it went in, says Nilsson to TV4 Play and continues:

We've had it tough, and everyone knows we have many leading players out. So it's incredibly strong of the group, and also those who come in. They're doing it really well.

Unpleasant Collision

Just before that, the home team's goalkeeper, Hugo Alnefelt, was forced to leave after a collision with the visiting team's Josh Dickinson.

I certainly don't think there's any intention to do anything bad there. An accident. But we know that this is part of what we're doing, and as we've done before, we need to handle it, says HV71's coach Anton Blomqvist.

The win means that Rögle leaves the bottom spot in the table, but is still stuck on a relegation spot, with seven points earned in nine matches. As many as HV71, but with a worse goal difference.
