Russia continues to make limited progress along the frontline in eastern Ukraine, according to a daily communiqué from the Russian Defence Ministry. Russian forces are said to have taken control of a small village in the east, according to unconfirmed reports.

"Units from the Eastern forces have liberated the settlement of Zahrine in the Zaporizhzhia region and occupied several advantageous positions," the ministry announces.

Ukraine has not commented on the reports, which have not been verified by independent parties.

The Russian army has made several advances in Ukraine over the past few months, particularly in the eastern parts, although without achieving any major breakthrough. Earlier in the week, Russia announced that it had captured three other villages in the east, southeast, and northeast.

In the past 24 hours, three people have died and six have been injured by Russia's bombardment in Ukraine, according to regional authorities, as reported by the Kyiv Independent. The Russian attacks are said to have targeted nine Ukrainian regions. The most damage was caused in Kharkiv and Donetsk.
