Tens of thousands of employees at the electronics giant Samsung in South Korea are going on strike following a dispute over wages and benefits, according to a union representative.
The union's chairman, Son Woo-mok, says that Samsung's latest offer "has infuriated all members" of the union, which represents around 28,000 employees.
The strike follows a one-day protest in June – and marked the first strike in the company's 55-year history, writes CNN.
The protest was carried out by the union calling on its members to take a day off simultaneously.
The new strike will be carried out in the traditional way "until our demands are met", according to the union.
Negotiations between the union and the company have been deadlocked since January.
Samsung is the world's largest manufacturer of smartphones.
