The search operation has been expanded after the mysterious disappearance of TV presenter and doctor Michael Mosley. At the same time, a battle against the clock is underway after a deadline for the operation has been set.

The search for the TV doctor has been expanded on Friday and efforts are now being made in the waters around the Greek island of Symi, where he disappeared on Wednesday.

About 20 firefighters and police officers are searching on land, together with several volunteers, while the coast guard is assisting from the water. Drones, helicopters, and a police dog are also being used.

The search operation for Mosley began on Wednesday evening, after he failed to return from a walk. The BBC writes that the local police stopped the search late on Thursday evening, and the operation was restarted again on Friday morning with reinforcements.

Eleftherios Papakalodoukas, the mayor of Symi, told British LBC that the search operation for the Briton will continue for four days. After that, more assistance is needed from Greece or the UK to be able to continue.

"We've searched everywhere, but we can't find him," he said in a statement.

Michael Mosley, a doctor and journalist, gained worldwide fame when he founded the so-called 5:2 diet.
