The Government must immediately seek support from the EU's globalization fund to support those who have been laid off at Northvolt. The demand comes from the Swedish S-group in the EU Parliament.
The Government cannot leave employees in the lurch. 1,600 people have been laid off. Then it is important that the Government acts quickly to support the employees, says Johan Danielsson (S) to TT.
He himself chairs the working group in the Parliament that reviews similar support applications from EU countries and hopes to be able to give a quick clearance, if only an application is submitted.
An assessment is that we could get somewhere between 50 and 100 million (kronor) from the fund, depending on the scope of the measures taken by the Government. This is necessary money, says Danielsson.
