When the customs inspected the container from Canada, it was discovered that it contained approximately 500 kilograms of cannabis. Later, a similar smuggling operation that had taken place earlier was discovered.
Six people are now being sentenced for their involvement in extremely serious drug smuggling and extremely serious drug offenses, announces the Göteborg District Court in a press release.
The network was uncovered when a container arrived at the Port of Göteborg in February this year.
The customs monitored the container and allowed it to continue to its final destination in Norrköping. Later, six people could be arrested, suspected of importing and handling the narcotics. Additionally, evidence was found of a similar smuggling operation in October last year.
The involved parties are now being sentenced to prison terms ranging from four years and ten months to nine years.
