Snoop Dogg steals the show at the Olympic Games

Simone Biles may be the USA's biggest sports star in the Olympic Games. But Snoop Dogg is doing his best to steal the spotlight. Now his specially designed pin is a success.

Snoop Dogg's extra job as an expert commentator for the American channel NBC during the Olympic Games has become an entertainment genre of its own.

The hype began to grow even before the Olympic Games in Paris started, when he ran a 200-meter dash during the American Olympic trials, wearing the American flag's colors along with a tribute portrait of the late Kobe Bryant. Snoop came last in the race against Ato Boldon and Wallace Spearmon, but was happy anyway.

34.44 for a 52-year-old? Not bad, he said after the race.

Since Snoop Dogg carried the Olympic torch during the opening ceremony, several of the American rapper's antics have gone viral, something that, among others, Rolling Stone has reported on. Here's a selection.

Notable outfits:

Snoop has been careful to support his favorite athletes through his clothing choices. In addition to the Kobe Bryant dress, he has worn several specially designed clothes. For example, the Simone Biles jacket that he wore over an identical Simone Biles t-shirt, or the Kelly Chang sweater that he wore under a Sarah Hughes jacket.

How he took "pin-trading" to a new level:

Trading pins has long been a sport of its own during the Olympic Games, and all stars have their own specially made pin. Of course, Snoop didn't want to be worse. In an Instagram post, he posed with a pin that depicts him blowing smoke rings in the shape of the Olympic rings next to the Eiffel Tower.

Dancing with the women's gymnastics team:

Simone Biles noticed Snoop standing and dancing on the stands. She and teammate Jordan Chiles naturally joined in on an Olympic dance party that has now gone viral.

Swimming lesson with Michael Phelps:

In swim trunks and swim cap, Snoop jumped into the pool with the 23-time gold medalist for a short swimming lesson.

Thanks to the Phelps family and team, who had to give me some oxygen right away, he panted afterwards.

Cheering:

When swimmer Caleb Dressel took gold, he was cheered on by none other than Snoop, who stood on the stands along with Dressel's wife Meghan, screaming:

You got it, baby! Gold, gold, gold, gold!

American rapper born 1971 as Cordozar Calvin Broadus Jr.

Made his debut in 1992 on Dr. Dre's "The Chronic" and released his acclaimed solo album "Doggystyle" the following year. Has sold around 40 million albums.

Famous songs: "Drop it like it's hot" and "Who am I (What's my name)?
