Sun in sight for Midsummer

Don't count on a heatwave by midsummer. But hopefully, most of the rain and thunderstorms will have passed by the time the pickled herring is served.

We're in a period where low-pressure systems are dictating the weather, with unstable conditions and rain showers and thunderstorms popping up in the afternoons. It looks like it'll be more of the same for the rest of the week, says Therese Fougman, a meteorologist at the SMHI.

As we head into next week, temperatures will rise slightly, although it'll still be unstable.

Towards the end of next week, around midsummer, it looks like there might be a slight stabilisation. But the forecast is very uncertain, says Fougman.

But as it looks now, it seems like there'll be sunshine in many parts of the country by midsummer.

There'll probably be scattered rain showers here and there, but not as widespread as now, more patchy. But it's hard to say for sure.

The forecast suggests temperatures will be around 20 degrees throughout next week, even on Midsummer Eve.

It doesn't look like there'll be a heatwave, just a typical Swedish summer in June, says Therese Fougman.
