At the school – where around a thousand students attend – some students are more or less unaffected by what has happened. But many know someone among the injured and are affected.
I was going to go to practice, but I was a bit sick and tired, so I slept. When I woke up, I saw that they had written in the chat that it was very rainy, says a player on the affected team.
"Trying not to think about it"
He describes the feeling when he heard about the accident – where eight teammates were injured in the lightning strike – as shocking, an unreal feeling. The thought that he himself could have been one of those who sought shelter from the rain under the tree has struck him.
Three youths are still being cared for in the hospital. For two of them, the situation is considered very serious, but stable.
I'm trying not to think about it too much. Now I was just lucky.
A priest and the school's counselor have been on site during Friday. Students who feel that they cannot cope can skip lessons or go and talk to support staff.
A teammate of the injured says that he does not know what will happen next.
I have no idea. We hope for the best, he says.
Lidingö City's safety chief Michael Åkerholm says that crisis support measures have been put in place at all preschools and schools in the municipality to offer support to those who need it.
"Focus on supporting"
A leisure center near the football field is staying open during Friday evening, and Ansgarskyrkan is also staying open. Many are affected by the event and need to talk, according to him. Measures are also being planned for the weekend.
Since the weather is still warm and nice, we are also planning to have people out so that we can meet up with groups outdoors, says Åkerholm.
IFK Lidingö is a club in crisis, after the accident. Apart from the injured in the youth team, other players are shaken by the event. All children's and youth activities at Lidingövallen and Brevik on Friday have been cancelled.
"From the club's side, the focus is now primarily on supporting the affected players and their families and coaches, players and parents within the club", the club writes in a statement.
