In total, 18 deaths are reported in a number of attacks that took place late on Monday, during the night or early on Tuesday. Eight of them are said to have been children.
Three children and their mother were killed in an air raid on an area in the city of Gaza on Monday evening, according to civil defense forces participating in the rescue efforts and subordinate to the Hamas-controlled healthcare system. In addition to the four deaths, three people are missing.
In another attack on the city, also on Monday evening, three women, a child, and a man were killed, according to Gaza's healthcare department.
Dead in Khan Younis
In southern Gaza, a residential house was attacked and five people – three children, a man, and a woman – were killed, according to information from a hospital in the city of Khan Yunis where their remains were taken.
In another air raid in Khan Yunis early on Tuesday, at least four people were killed, including a child, according to Nasser Hospital, which received the dead.
Many killed in the attacks
Israel's military claims to take civilians into account when attacking the Gaza Strip and accuses the opposing side, Hamas, of putting the population at risk by taking battles to populated areas. Many women and children have been killed in the attacks.
From the Israeli side, individual attacks are not usually commented on. Palestinian authorities do not distinguish between civilian and military personnel in their regular reports of deaths.
The healthcare system in Hamas-controlled Gaza counts more than 40,000 people having been killed in Gaza during the war. The war broke out after Hamas attacked Israel on October 7 last year, when nearly 1,200, mostly civilian people, were killed, and around 250 people were taken as hostages.
