Welding defects and cracks in a set of points were behind an Arlanda Express train derailing in May last year, according to the Swedish Accident Investigation Board's final report, writes P4 Stockholm.
The train was travelling at nearly 180 kilometres per hour when it derailed. Two people were injured, one seriously, and the damage to the train and track was extensive.
According to Dagens Nyheter, the investigators recommend that the responsible company should follow up on wear and maintenance needs in the relevant set of points to prevent new defects.
