TT has been in contact with artist Tomas Andesson Wij, who wrote a post on Instagram where he mourns the friend.
"Jonas stood behind me in the line to Hornstull's hot dog kiosk on a winter evening in 2007. He tapped on my shoulder, said he listened to my records and invited me to one of his premieres. Then we became friends", he writes and continues:
"Death makes one feel powerless, but tonight I sang for Jonas from one of Visby's ruins, under a cloudless sky".
Jonas Selberg Augustsén passed away "unexpectedly and suddenly" after a short illness, the family writes in a post on Instagram.
"We miss him and love him now and forever" it says in the post.
Selberg Augustsén was born in Boden in 1974 and directed the acclaimed films "Sophelikoptern" - his debut film where the Romani language was given a lot of space - and "Trädälskaren". The latter was characteristic of the director's connection to nature and was about how he built a house fourteen meters up in a tree, which also inspired the tree hotel Tree Hotel in Harad. In 2020, his film "The Longest Day" was released, starring Bianca Kronlöf in the lead role.
