Infrastructure and Housing Minister Andreas Carlson (KD) presents two government assignments aimed at increasing competition in the housing market and easing building requirements for renovations.
The government continues to drive policies aimed at addressing the structural obstacles in the market, says Carlson at a press conference.
The first assignment is directed at the Competition Authority and concerns mapping price transparency in the building materials market. The government highlights lack of competition as a possible reason for not building enough homes in Sweden.
The goal is for buyers to be able to make clear demands and push prices, which is an important measure for everyone who dreams of building their own home, according to Carlson.
This is an important part of our work to lower the thresholds, he says.
The second assignment is directed at the National Board of Housing, Building and Planning, where the ambition is to ease the requirements in the planning and building legislation.
The ambition is to significantly reduce the costs of rebuilding homes. It is also resource- and climate-smart to use resources that already exist, says Carlson.
