The opposition is submitting a so-called committee initiative in the Riksdag's Industry Committee on Thursday to put pressure on the government.
The proposal concerns the use of tens of billions of kronor in so-called bottleneck revenues by state-owned Svenska kraftnät to expand the main grid at sea. Specifically, they are focusing on the Kriegers Flak project, which Vattenfall has paused, partly because the power cables are too expensive.
"The park was planned to be completed in 2028 off Trelleborg and then produce 2.7 terawatt-hours per year, which corresponds to the electricity for over 500,000 homes," the opposition writes.
The risk is that electricity prices will rise in southern Sweden if the offshore wind farm is not built on time, according to the Social Democrats, the Left Party, the Centre Party, and the Green Party.
This is the first time this term that the four red-green parties are submitting a joint proposal in the energy sector. The parties have in different ways tried to pressure the government on Kriegers Flak earlier.
Energy and Industry Minister Ebba Busch (Christian Democrats) has said that there are no obstacles for Svenska kraftnät to use the funds for power cables if they deem the measure socially motivated.
The government must now instruct the authority to perform social cost-benefit analyses and actively use the bottleneck revenues, according to the opposition.
