In Afghanistan, hundreds of people, including Chinese and Iranian diplomats, have gathered at a former American airbase to celebrate three years since the Taliban regained power in the country.
The Taliban government has "the responsibility to maintain an Islamic rule, protect property and people's lives, and respect for our nation", says the Taliban movement's acting Prime Minister Mohammad Hassan Akhund in a statement.
In the days leading up to the celebration, Afghanistan's capital Kabul has been decorated with banners and signs with the text "congratulations".
The Taliban government has no international recognition as the country's government, but has diplomatic relations with regional powers such as China and Russia. The government has introduced Sharia laws and the situation for the country's women has deteriorated since the Taliban took power.
