Sabalenka defeated Chinese OS winner Zheng Qinwen 6–1, 6–2 in the quarterfinals and will face American Emma Navarro in the semifinals.
Last year, Sabalenka reached the final in the US Open, where she lost to American Coco Gauff and the home crowd.
