Instagram can be used in Turkey again, after a week-long shutdown by Turkish authorities.
The authorities blocked the platform for the 57 million Turkish users, without motivation, on August 2. After that, the reason was said to be that the platform broke Turkish law.
"In our talks with representatives of Instagram, they have assured us that what we have requested will be fulfilled and we have received a promise that we will cooperate on ways to censor users," says the country's Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu on X.
He also made it clear that all accounts held by "terrorist organizations" will be banned and content supporting them will be removed. He specifically mentioned the Kurdish PKK, the Syrian-Kurdish PYD, and the Gülen movement's Feto.
