80 per cent of the world's population wants governments worldwide to take tougher action on climate change. This is revealed in a new UN survey.

It shows that people understand how dangerous it is, says Achim Steiner, head of the UN Development Programme UNDP to TT.

The survey – the largest of its kind – spans 77 countries. A total of 75,000 people were asked to answer 15 questions about climate change.

People all over the world are worried about climate change. They really want countries to strengthen their commitments to counteract the changes.

It shows that people understand how dangerous it is and how little time we have left to act, says Achim Steiner.

Despite the fact that as many as four out of five people globally want to see tougher action on climate change, one in five still do not.

There are those who say that climate change is fiction. Science fiction. I don't know how they hold on to that. Every day we see on TV what's happening, but unfortunately, you can't always convince everyone, says Achim Steiner.

But the most important thing is that so many are worried about climate change and expect countries to do something about it.
