It is still unclear when the two American astronauts who were launched into space with the spacecraft Starliner in early June can return to Earth.
Astronauts Barry Wilmore and Sunita Williams left Earth with Boeing's Starliner on June 5 and were supposed to be back eight days later.
But they are still on the International Space Station ISS, which means the return journey is more than a month delayed. There is no planned date for a return journey, NASA announced at a press conference on Thursday.
Starliner was affected during the journey, among other things, by helium leakage and problems with fuel supply. Moreover, five steering rockets stopped functioning. Four of them are now reported to be working.
The goal is for Wilmore and Williams to return to Earth with Starliner, but a NASA spokesperson says they are also looking at "other alternatives".
