The United Kingdom wants to make it harder to own a crossbow. This after three women died after being found seriously injured by crossbows "and other weapons" on Tuesday evening.

The incident occurred in Bushey, northwest of London. On Wednesday, the police released the name and image of a man who is suspected of carrying a crossbow and poses a significant risk to the public.

After a several-hour-long search effort, the 26-year-old man suspected of the crime was arrested on Wednesday evening.

According to Sky News and BBC, the police believe they have found a connection between the man and the women, but no motive has been disclosed.

In the United Kingdom, individuals do not need a license to own a crossbow, but it is illegal to carry the weapon in public without a reasonable reason.

Now, the government wants to urgently review whether the ownership of crossbows can be regulated more strictly.

This is not the first time the weapon has been used in high-profile cases in recent years. In December 2021, a perpetrator broke into Windsor Castle with a loaded crossbow, after being encouraged by an AI chatbot to kill Queen Elizabeth II.
