Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyj has repeatedly demanded that the USA lift restrictions and give Ukraine the opportunity to strike back harder.

We're working on it right now, replied Biden when asked if the USA could consider easing the restrictions on long-distance weapons, as he left the White House on Tuesday for a trip to New York.

The political website Politico reports that Ukraine could receive a positive message from US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Wednesday. Then, Blinken and his British counterpart David Lammy will arrive in Kiev.

Republican Mike McCaul, chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the House of Representatives, says, according to Politico, that he has spoken to Blinken and got the impression that Blinken will bring the message that Ukraine will be allowed to use the so-called ATACMS system without the previous restrictions.

But sources in the White House say that the matter is not yet settled.

The situation has escalated after Western intelligence sources claimed that Iran has begun supplying Russia with long-distance drones.

Ukraine sees itself as being held back by the restrictions imposed by the USA and some European countries that can deliver powerful long-distance weapons to Ukraine. Meanwhile, Ukraine has developed, for example, its own drones that can reach far into Russia. This is shown, not least, by Tuesday's attack on targets in, among other places, the Moscow area.
