Two unmanned surface vessels in the Red Sea, belonging to the Iran-backed Houthi movement in Yemen, have been destroyed, according to the US military command Centcom.
In addition to the vessels, a drone and radar equipment, which enabled the rebels to attack ships, are also reported to have been destroyed.
"It was established that these systems posed an imminent threat to the US, coalition forces, and merchant vessels in the region," Centcom wrote in a social media post.
The Houthi movement has carried out dozens of drone and missile attacks on vessels in the Red Sea since November. Several shipping companies have rerouted and are avoiding the Red Sea due to the attacks, which the movement claims are aimed at supporting Palestinians following the war in Gaza.
