A woman has been taken to hospital with shrapnel injuries after an explosion in a store in Geneta, Södertälje.
According to the police, an object suspected to be a grenade was thrown into the premises and then detonated.
The alarm came in just after 8 pm on Monday.
We have a comprehensive operation on site. We have information that someone threw an object into the store premises. The object then detonated, says Ola Österling, police press spokesperson.
A woman was seriously injured in connection with the incident and was taken to hospital by ambulance helicopter. At midnight, she was awake and talking, and is not expected to have life-threatening injuries.
In addition, several people were lightly injured, says Ola Österling.
Suspected grenade
The police are classifying the incident as attempted murder, serious weapons offense, and reckless endangerment. Several people have been detained after the explosion.
We have detained people who will be questioned during the night, and then we'll see if they will be arrested or detained, we'll know that tomorrow morning, says Ola Österling.
What exploded has not yet been established, but there are suspicions that it was a grenade.

The building damaged
The rescue service, which sent twelve fire trucks to the site, has now completed its operation.
It has been established that there are no structural damages to the building that could affect its load-bearing capacity. However, there are damages inside the building, says Patrik Johansson, duty officer at Södertörn's fire defense association.
On July 6, the police set up a visitation zone in parts of Geneta and Västra Blombacka after a man was shot dead in Blombacka on July 2. The visitation zone was lifted on Friday.
