The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) issued a yellow warning on Wednesday for torrential rain over northern Götaland and southern Svealand.

And rain it did.

Among other things, there were flooded roads when I cycled to work in Norrköping, says Emma Rosengren, meteorologist at SMHI.

According to Corren, there have been problems in several places throughout the day in Norrköping. Among other things, roads and viaducts have overflowed, and several cars are said to have become stuck in the water masses. There has also been hail in Linköping and Stockholm.

So far, we have Gladhammar with 32 millimetres of rain, Norrköping with 29, and Stockholm with 22, says Emma Rosengren.

However, she simultaneously notes that it is about local phenomena and that SMHI's stations do not necessarily register the heaviest downpours.

There has also been thunderstorms in several parts of the country, but most in the southwest around Värnen. On the other hand, there have been some power outages due to the thunderstorms in other areas, including Dalarna and Örebro County.

But the worst weather in the eastern parts seems to have subsided, even if there can still be some showers.

It looks like the bad weather will remain in the western parts of the warning area, Örebro County, and western Östergötland during the evening. Then it will slowly move northwards and subside during the evening and night, says Rosengren.

The warning applies until 22:00 on Wednesday.

Corrected: In an earlier version of the text, the wrong weekday was stated for the weather warning.

Three levels of weather warnings:

Yellow: Consequences for society, some risks for the general public.

Orange: Serious consequences for society, danger for the general public.

Red: Very serious consequences for society, great danger for the general public.
