Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyj is turning to the country's allies with a plea to be allowed to use long-range weapons to attack targets in Russia.
Several countries, among those militarily closest to Ukraine, are now allowing the Ukrainian army to use donated weapons in battles on Russian soil, near the border with Ukraine. Supporting countries are adding the reservation that, for example, long-distance missiles may not be used.
In a speech to Ukrainian ambassadors on Monday, Zelenskyj said that such weapons are necessary to be able to stop the Russian offensive.
Ukraine has only one obstacle to stopping the Russian army's advance – this obstacle is a decision that we are waiting for from our partners: the decision (to use) long-range weapons, said Zelenskyj.
