"A construction site is not always beautiful"

Excuse the noise, we're rebuilding.

Danish architect Jon Dahl Tomasson wants to give Sweden's national football team an international style.

After the 2-5 loss to the world nation Portugal in Guimarães and the 1-0 win over Albania at Friends Arena in March, the men's national team continues its journey under what the football association has dubbed the "new era".

The first test of this collection is Denmark at a sold-out Parken in Copenhagen (almost 38,000 spectators) on Wednesday evening. On Saturday, Serbia awaits at Friends Arena in Solna in the next training match.

Earlier in the week, Tomasson said he sees Alexander Isak as one of the "best in the world at deep runs". Does it mean that Newcastle's Alexander Isak – third in the Premier League's scoring list with 21 goals – will get the chance to play centrally in the attack rather than on the wing?

Tomasson won't reveal exactly what position Isak will play without saying that the forward can be on all offensive areas during a match.

How far has the "new team" come in the process?

The training sessions on the concrete lump Malmö Stadium and the camp in the Stockholm area have been significant, says the Manchester United player.

Right-back Emil Krafth reveals that they have trained in both three- and four-back lines.

A more flexible system is perhaps not directly what a yellow-blue national football team has been most known for earlier.

The men's national team's matches in 2024 – under the leadership of new coach Jon Dahl Tomasson:

Training matches:

March 21: Portugal (away) 2-5.

March 24: Albania (home) 1-0.

June 5: Denmark (away).

June 8: Serbia (home).

Nations League, C-division:

September 5: Azerbaijan (away).

September 8: Estonia (home).

October 11: Slovakia (home).

October 14: Estonia (away).

November 16: Slovakia (home).

November 19: Azerbaijan (home).
