After a weak start to the season, Piteå is finding its form.

On Thursday evening, they won against AIK with 5–3 in a goal-rich event.

I'm bloody furious, we're throwing away the match, says AIK captain Jennie Nordin to Viaplay.

AIK equalized after the early conceded goal through 17-year-old Annika Svensson, after a fine play by Villemo Dahlqvist. But after that, it was Piteå's match entirely.

In the 75th minute, Piteå went up to a three-goal lead when Johansson scored her second goal in the match, and AIK never responded.

Frustration in AIK

Emma Engström reduced to 3–5 for the away team in the 83rd minute, but the guests didn't get any closer, and thus remain in the relegation zone in the table.

If I'm going to be completely honest, I'm bloody furious. I think we're throwing away this match incredibly, and it's simple goals we're conceding, it's ridiculously frustrating. That we should be down 4–1 before we wake up to life..., says AIK's team captain Jennie Nordin to Viaplay after the match, and then continues:

We had huge spaces to play on in the first half, but we're not utilizing it. It's going way too slow on our flanks. Piteå is pressing well in the second half and we're not getting the game going.

Meet on Monday

Piteå has now won three straight matches and is fifth in the women's top division.

It felt good, it's easy to play with the girls out here, it's fun to play football now. Our attacking game has loosened up in the last matches, says Piteå defender Selina Henriksson.

The teams will meet again on Monday when the series turns, this time at Skytteholms IP.
