The free newspaper Nöjesguiden has let an AI write the entire July issue.

The editor-in-chief Frasse Levin explains to SVT that the issue is a satirical contribution in a time when the freelance budget is scarce.

It's a jab at the newspaper's management: This is what happens when you don't get money. Then there's also a discussion about AI, says Frasse Levinsson to SVT and continues:

Will it take over our jobs? And then I realized it's possible to let it do it now and see what happens.

Among the satirical articles are headlines like "Patrik Lundberg meets Patrik Lundberg", "My weekend: Astrid Lindgren's ghost" and "At home with Herngren".

Author Patrik Lundberg has criticized the newspaper in an article in Dagens Nyheter, and believes that it's not clear that he himself didn't participate in the interview. However, editor-in-chief Frasse Levinsson believes that it's "obvious to the reader that it's a joke".

Under each article is a text line stating that the article is AI-generated. It also says in a humorous tone that any similarities with real people are coincidental.

Last spring, the production company that published Nöjesguiden went bankrupt, but the newspaper is now being continued through another company.
