It is the long-time NHL journalist Frank Seravalli who comes with the information on the hockey site Daily Faceoff.

Lehner, 33, has not played since the spring of 2022 when he was injured and was forced to undergo extensive hip surgery.

He was not expected to play this season either, which is his last on a five-year contract worth 25 million dollars, equivalent to approximately 250 million kronor.

Lehner would have earned approximately 45 million kronor during the final contract year.

According to the collective agreement, a long-term injured player must still attend the medical examination before the season start in their club.

Now, it is reported that Vegas wants to terminate the final year of the contract.

The local newspaper Las Vegas Review-Journal writes that the club does not want to comment on the information.

Robin Lehner was one of the candidates for the Vezina Trophy as NHL's best goalkeeper 2018-19 and won the same season the Guldpucken as Sweden's best hockey player.

He was awarded that season in the NHL with the Bill Masterton Trophy for having opened up about his struggle with mental health issues and addiction problems.
