F1 Star's Anger: "Are We Five-Year-Olds?"

F1 stars have been ordered to mind their language during the races. It has not fallen on fertile ground with the drivers. Are we five-year-olds or six-year-olds, wonders the World Champion Max Verstappen, upset.

It is the International Automobile Federation (FIA) President Mohammed Ben Sulayem who has reacted to what is heard in TV broadcasts when drivers talk to their teams over the radio during the races.

He thinks they swear too much and has asked the F1 leadership to take action on the matter.

The drivers are pushing back ahead of this weekend's World Championship event in Singapore.

Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc turns it around.

I think the FIA should have other priorities. I would like to turn it around and ask them to remove our swear words and not broadcast so much, he says.

Briton Lando Norris, McLaren, says:

We're in the heat of the moment. We're passionate and you listen to the drivers' rawness, their thoughts and feelings. I think it's cool and exciting to hear.

In an interview with autosport.com, Mohammed Ben Sulayem says he doesn't want drivers to sound like rappers.

We're not rappers. They say the F-word how many times a minute? We're not like them, he says.
