Next week, a definite answer is expected on whether the dead men in the burned-out car in Malmö are the two missing Britons.

Much suggests that the two deceased persons are the same British men in their 35s who were reported missing by their relatives on Monday. However, the police are still waiting for a formal response from the forensic examination – and it appears to be delayed.

We do not believe that the examination will be completed this week. Things are complicated by the fact that there was a fire in the car, which has affected the bodies, says Kerstin Gossé, press spokesperson for the police in Malmö.

The British Foreign Office has previously stated to TT that they are in contact with Swedish authorities and are supporting the families of the missing men. At the same time, British police confirm that they have contact with Swedish police and Interpol.

The bodies were found after a car fire in an industrial area in Malmö on Sunday. The incident is being investigated as suspected double murder.

The police are seeking tips about the burned-out car, which was a Danish-registered Toyota RAV4. According to several media outlets, it was rented at Kastrup Airport a few hours before the emergency services received the alarm.
