It is a continued tough situation for many companies. In September, the number of bankruptcies increased by 11 percent compared to the same period last year, according to figures from the credit information company UC.

Among other things, one sees more bankruptcies within the real estate and communications industries as well as among technology companies. Within the real estate sector, bankruptcies increased by over 60 percent.

"Once again, we see a small increase in bankruptcies on the Swedish market, which indicates that the recovery is going slowly and it is clear that the recession is lingering longer than expected," says Gabriella Göransson, CEO of UC, in a press release.

On the other hand, one sees a decrease in the number of bankruptcies within, for example, retail, hotel and restaurant, and construction industries.

The figures fluctuate a lot and there is great uncertainty ahead, according to UC.

"Unfortunately, we now see that bankruptcies are increasing overall, which makes the future bankruptcy situation and macroeconomic situation difficult to assess," adds Gabriella Göransson.
